Olive | Contemporary Abstract Painting
Tinted colors create emotionally charged, raw imagery, while bold color experimentation and layered textures bring depth to this contemporary abstract artwork. Each stroke reveals a dialogue between nature and emotion, blending personal memory with expressive modern aesthetics.
The olive tree is deeply rooted in my story and identity. The city in Libya where my great-grandfather came from is known for producing some of the finest olive oil along the Mediterranean coast — a symbol of resilience, purity, and timeless connection to the land. In my country, olive trees are not raised in pots but in the soil — they grow old with us, standing tall for generations, with roots that hold the memory of family and home.
Seeing an olive tree in a vase inspired this nature-inspired artwork — it reflects the quiet ache of homesickness and belonging. Even when I’m home, I sometimes feel displaced. As humans, we long to belong — to a place, to someone, to something that grounds us.
This painting is not just about a small olive tree in a vase; it’s about roots, memory, and identity — an emotional artwork that tells the story of where we come from and what we carry within.
I LEFT WORDS BEHIND TO SPEAK IN COLOR AGAIN —
RAW, FEARLESS, LIKE THE CHILD I ONCE WAS,
SHAPING EMOTIONS INTO SOMETHING REAL AND TRUE.
